When I do a search in this forum I always get the same error message:
"The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: [word of your choice] ."
For every word I am trying to search for. Can this be fixed?
Forum search - every word is too common

Can you give some examples?

Any word will do.
If you need an example search for "host", or "watch" or "setup".
The result is always the same.

Re: Forum search - every word is too common
Then try something else. What in your opinion would not be a common word?
Any other forum engine I know would return a result for host or setup.
What good is a search when every word contained in the documentation is considered too common? I am looking for information about host or setup. Why can I not search for it?

Re: Forum search - every word is too common
From phpbb forum administration panel:
Common word threshold: 5%
Words which are contained in a greater percentage of all posts will be regarded as common. Common words are ignored in search queries. Set to zero to disable. Only takes effect if there are more than 100 posts. If you want words that are currently regarded as common to be reconsidered you have to recreate the index.
I have looked on phpbb forums and most users say that 5% is a good number.
Commonly administrators should not change it.
Your search is too common.
You can just look at the documentation for setup:

and "host" - what do you mean under this word?

Re: Forum search - every word is too common
I e.g. tried to search for "multiple" as I want to setup cgru for multiple versions of a software to be rendered. --> Too common
Re: Forum search - every word is too common
Ok! I disabled common words.
It will take effect after some time.
