How to Configure Tickets

Post by Anti-Distinctlyminty »

Hi,
We have a farm that has three node-locked and one floating Houdini license. I have not been able to configure the farm HYTHON tickets to fully utilize the four available licenses, although here is my attempt:

I was thinking that maybe if the pool had four, and the three renderers with node-locked hython licenses had one each, it would distribute hython jobs to them first, but unfortunately it does not. It alwasy tried to launch the hython jobs on any of the nodes, so some always end up becoming error hosts due to not having an available license.

Is there any way to tell Afanasy to always use those same three nodes for hython, plus one more to any other machine?

Hi!
I have not deal with a node-locked licences.
It seems that mix locked and floating licences situation can't be solved by tickets.
If you set 4 lics for pool - any pool machine can run ticket.
If you set 1 lic for pool - just one pool machine can run ticket and there is no matter some one more machine has such host ticket too.
But we can think up how we can solve it.
May be some others does it already.
I will ask others.

You can try to use 2 different tickets for a node-locked and a floating type.
Set node-locked on the node and a floating on farm.
Job block should have both tickets.

I think this is the way to go. Thank you
